Crafts - Washi Tape

I'm in complete awe of people who make things with their hands, because I have a serious lack of patience when it comes to crafting.  It's disappointing, because I see all sorts of gorgeous things online, but I always give up half way through.

Which is why I'm so in love with washi tape!  It's so much fun to work with, and comes in an array of colors.  I buy mine online, here, but there are lots of places you can find them.

It's so easy to make flag picks to stick in cupcakes or cakes.  Just unroll the tape so the sticky side is up, and place a toothpick, (mine is much larger than average size), like this:

Fold the tape over the toothpick, making sure to align the sides of the tape:

Then cut the tape at the end of the joined pieces:

Now you can cut it in one of two ways:

Or, you could make a banner, like the one I made here - I used bakers twine and two kabob skewers:

You can see an example of this kind of banner and cupcake picks in the cute display I did for Valentine's Day:

There are lots of other things you can do with washi tape, like wrap it around tea candles:

Or serving spoons:

I also used it to change up some damaged ceramic place cards:

After:

Have fun experimenting with washi tape...make homemade cards or bookmarks, change up picture frames or placemats, or anything else that could use a little splash of color.

Hope you enjoyed this crafting post!
