Baked Goods as Holiday Presents

I think giving baked goods as holiday presents to friends, neighbors, teachers, etc. is such a good idea!  It shows the recipient that you cared enough to make something for them.

You can go all out, and do everything from scratch, but if that idea is overwhelming, here's the easy method:

For this gift, all you have to do is whip up a chocolate cake batter from a mix.  Pour your batter halfway up the foil loaf pans that you can buy at the grocery store - the ones with lids are really nice.  A box mix will fill two to three of these pans.

Bake for 30 minutes, and check for doneness with a wooden toothpick…it should come out clean or with a few crumbs on it.  If your cake is not at this stage yet, pop it back in your oven, and check every five minutes until it's one.

When your cakes are cool, frost with a vanilla frosting from a can, making sure you cover the entire cake and the corners.  Scatter on whatever type of sprinkles you like, and you're done!

A lid and a pretty bow are the perfect finishing touches:

[I bought the cupcake box at my grocery store as well.  If you can't find any, here's a link to some cute ones.]

I hope you will take the time to share some baked treats with your loved ones this holiday…it's a great way to show you care!
