Winter Wonderland Cupcakes

I wanted to make white fondant snowflakes for cupcake toppers, but I couldn't figure out how to make them as small and delicate as I wanted. Then I remembered my Martha Stewart snowflake paper cutter (you can buy it from Amazon), and wondered if I could make it work - I did, and they're gorgeous!

Here are some tips to make fondant work for this kind of paper punch:

You have to roll the fondant extremely thin, and dust it liberally with powdered sugar…then cut the fondant into circles to make it easier to insert in the punch.  Slowly slide the fondant into the cutter, and press down on the plunger.

And voila:

Lovely white snowflakes!  Let the snowflakes dry on a flat surface, and then move them VERY carefully onto the cupcake.

The blue snowflakes are store-bought, and the swirly paper liners I bought here.
